Desert

Willow house, Texas

February 12-16, 2024

Guided trail running, hiking, writing, meditation, yoga, delicious food, and of course time to rest in the immensity of the Big Bend will fill our days and offer a well-earned escape from the fast-paced distractions of daily life. Join us as we wander on the edge of wildness and go deep into our imaginations! Desert Flow Camp is designed to be both energizing and restorative, illuminating our lives and clearing our minds to see into who we truly are and how we aspire to live, on and off the trail.

Special guest teachers include flow yogi, storyteller, and equity ally, Kelly Burns; and West Texas tr guide and ultra runner Tyler Priest.

Katie is the best. She shares her wisdom and love for being outside with all of us!
— Cindy, Mountain Flow Camp, 2024

Each day will begin with a morning meditation and writing practice followed by a delicious hot breakfast in the open kitchen and dining area. Following a short stretching session, we will spend our mornings running and exploring the extensive trails in Big Bend National Park and the Chisos Mountains; plan on 5-8 miles with options for more or less as desired. Our fabulous hiking guide will lead those seeking a more relaxed pace.

Each afternoon, we’ll gather for guided writing sessions at Willow House. Bring writing you are working on, ideas you have for memoir, essays, poems or stories, or come with an open mind and a willingness to dive into your innate creativity. No previous writing experience is necessary!

Late afternoons are devoted to personal time—flow yoga, soaking in the lap pool, self-guided wanders through the desert landscape, quiet sitting, resting, reading, or writing solo or with a friend. Movement, nature, creativity, stillness, solitude, conversation, and collaboration—these are the foundations of flow, and together we’ll explore simple and pleasurable daily practices to bring more ease and momentum, openness and wonder into your life at home.

After a healthy nourishing dinner, we’ll settle in on the patio or living room for conversations and shared stories on how to find flow states in our everyday routines, listen deeply to our intuition, and develop habits to support creativity wherever we are.

Accommodations are in King casitas or shared Queen casitas, all with private baths. All meals and snacks are included and the menu will focus on organic, seasonal and regional dishes. A one-on-one mentorship session with Katie is included to help you integrate our desert flow into life at home. All levels of runners, hikers, and writers are invited to join
